Love making ofs and progress shots from you guys.
Here’s one from a piece I did a while back. I think it captures more than the final image, has more energy and feeling about it. That’s a thing I’ve got to work on, not to over produce things. Simple and expressive is almost always best.

I could not stop smirking at this difference between versions, so I made a GIF!
Remember that rant I went on regarding not being precious with your work? Well the above image is proof that it works. I was super stuck in a rut and even went onto spending nearly an hour in colour-mode with the ‘before’ image. But then through lots of sadness and tears (jk, but not really - ha!), I reverted, went back a version, duplicated (<3), and erased a lot of work. Seeing as I’ve almost finished the piece I can now say it was most definitely worth it!
Sorry for preaching, but I find myself in a similar rut from time to time and erasing stuff just works. It’s definitely scary, but you can do what you did again, and probably do it a lot better.
Enjoy the GIF and hopefully it brings as much joy to you as it has me.
Oh and remember, DON’T PANIC - because you’re awesome!

Hey mynlo! Thought I’d answer your comment publicly so it can help others like yourself :).

Yes, I did purchased the stand online from Amazon. It’s part of their AmazonBasics range so it was really quite cheap. There seems to be a lot of the same style stands about, perhaps they’re the same quality but I get paranoid about these things so I paid slightly more just for piece of mind behind a familiar name. I bought it from the UK site, but I’m sure they’ll have it in your respective country too.

Here’s the link - AmazonBasics Portable Fold-up Travel Stand

So far I’m liking it, but I’ve only had it for a few hours. Time will tell if it’s a keeper :)

Finally got around to getting a stand for my iPad!

Finally!! Ready for some colour…
I exclaim because the line work for this piece has taken hours! I don’t know what I was finding difficult but a mass purge of ‘precious’ lines was what the doctor ordered. Never be precious of your work, remember you’re more than capable of doing it again and better!!

So this is pretty cool. Pt.ii

The inspiration of my last piece saw and liked it on Instagram. So stoked :)

Process shots of “You don’t need to emerge from nothing”

It’s just a collection of images blended together into a video. Thought it would be pretty neat for you guys to see the stages I went through. Also I feel pretty crappy for not putting out any videos recently…

Things I can take away from this piece is maybe think ahead a bit more and not be as indecisive, as when I used Blend it had me redrawing a lot of it. I’m sure I could’ve cut down the time drastically if I knew what I was doing, hehe.

Check out the hi-res final piece - "You don’t need to emerge from nothing"
